The 2024 East Meets West Junior Challenge

The 2024 East meets West Junior Challenge will take place on July 3- 4, 2024, at the Okanagan Polo Club in British Columbia. Thank you to everyone who applied for this year’s East meets West Junior Challenge. We had over 20 applicants - which is fantastic - and we look forward to seeing all these kids at future events. Congratulations to the eight kids that were selected to participate this year;

The juniors will be mixed up to make balanced teams, allowing the kids a chance to play with, and against, each other. The weekend will include a polo clinic, and some local sightseeing in beautiful British Columbia. Thank you to everyone who is helping put together this amazing experience for the kids!

2024 Summer Season

Spring is in the air, and soon the grass will be green and ready for the outdoor season. We have lots of Polo Canada Invitational Tournaments planned for the next few months, including mixed tournaments, women’s tournaments, and youth tournaments. The Canadian Polo Association (Polo Canada) is the communication and resource centre that links polo players and clubs across Canada, under one National Association.  Polo Canada Members can take advantage of the following benefits;

 Training Programs:

•  Members receive access to the Polo Academy’s online player development platform (linked from the Polo Canada website) with educational content on polo techniques, and rules, as well as a masterclass series from the experts.

• Polo Canada provide clinics in conjunction with some of its tournaments. For example, the East meets West Junior Challenge offers a clinic open to all junior members of Polo Canada. 

National Competition

• Polo Canada Invitational Tournaments:  These tournaments are available to all members of Polo Canada, and promote competition and camaraderie between players and clubs from different regions.  There are Open Invitationals, Women’s Invitationals, and Youth Invitationals on the 2024 Calendar of Events.  Polo Canada offers prizes and tournament support to any club hosting an Invitational Tournament.

 Youth Initiatives

• The East meets West Junior Challenge:  Polo Canada arranges for eight junior players from Eastern and Western Canada to meet up and play together every July, promoting competition and camaraderie  between the next generation of Canadian polo players.

• Polo Canada Youth Invitational Tournament Series

 International Opportunities

• Eligibility to represent Team Canada at FIP tournaments.

• Opportunities to participate individually in international polo events through invitations to Polo Canada.

 Promotions & Advertising

• Access to free advertising and publicity for your club and club events through the Polo Canada website and social media.

Grooms

• Polo Canada obtained an amendment to requirements for foreign workers to have work permits such that, as essential members of a polo team, polo grooms are authorized to work without a work permit under R186(h)
