THE POLO CANADA SPECIAL OPPORTUNITY GRANT
WHAT IT IS;
· The Special Opportunity Grant is intended to support young up-and-coming Canadian polo players who demonstrate significant talent and the potential to one day represent Canada at the FIP level.
· The Special Opportunity Grant offers assisted funding towards a high-level playing opportunity (a Special Opportunity) that has been offered to the applicant.
· The Special Opportunity Grant may or may not be awarded annually. The program is selective, with funding provided on a case-by-case basis. Funding amounts are flexible, and up to the discretion of the selection committee, but the grant awarded can not exceed $2,500 CAD
SELECTION PROCESS;
A selection committee, comprised of high-goal professional players and coaches from both the eastern and western regions of Canada, will review and evaluate the application using the criteria below.
CRITERIA FOR APPLYING FOR THE SPECIAL OPPORTUNITY GRANT;
· Players between 18 years and 25 years old may apply for the Special Opportunity Grant.
· The Applicant must be of good character on and off the field, and a member of Polo Canada.
· The Applicant should demonstrate significant playing talent, and the potential to represent Canada in future FIP events.
· The Special Opportunity that the grant is being applied for must be at a goal level higher than the level the player usually plays at.
· The Special Opportunity that the grant is being applied for should include the chance to learn from a well respected high rated player or accomplished instructor.
· The Applicant may only receive the Special Opportunity Grant once.
